Daniel Westcott
Founder & CEO

I grew up in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, where I spent ample time playing in the woods and water. I earned my undergrad in Biology and Secondary Education from NEIU in Chicago, and my PhD in plant biology at Cal, where I studied photosynthesis in algae. I've recently applied my understanding of protein science to create a materials library for plant-based cheese. We made exceptional progress under my watch.

In my life, I've managed teams of hourly workers and PhD scientists, all while balancing respect for the individual and larger company goals. I'm scientifically excitable and understand a broad range of analytical tools and methods. I'm dedicated to rigorous data capture in order to leverage statistical techniques as applied to product development.

And I like to think that Iā€™m fun. I play music a lot. I love laughter, and I think you shouldn't have to sacrifice family and friends in order to bring something better into the world.

Also, I think that budgets frickin matter because a business must be financially sustainable before it can be environmentally sustainable. Let's go!
